In 2017, VVI initiated a partnership with the global, nonprofit engineering company, Water Mission, to design and implement a viable water solution for Kailer. As funds become available, a solar-powered borehole will be drilled at an appropriate location with the intent of providing clean, potable water in adequate amounts to support the village. A local water committee has been formed, composed primarily of women, to provide feedback about the project design since having access to water will have the greatest impact on them. The involvement of women elevates their voices, provides them with new knowledge and skills, and enhances their reputations as female leaders within the community.
